Center for White Rose Studies is a 501(c)(3) Holocaust education nonprofit chartered in Pennsylvania, registered in California. The mission statement of CWRS reads: The Center for White Rose Studies is dedicated to preserving the memories of those who courageously opposed the crimes of National Socialism, using their lives and work as a springboard to address the issues of informed dissent in a civilized society.
Orenburg Charity Foundation (“Eurasia”) is a Russian nonprofit organization based in Orenburg, Russia. Located on the Ural River, on the border between Russia and Kazakhstan, OCF uses the life stories of celebrities, scholars, and writers who have lived or worked in Orenburg as a means for building bridges to other countries and people. Among their favorite sons; Alexander Schmorell, who was executed on July 13, 1943 for his significant role in White Rose resistance.
The Human Face of War will consist of a series of colloquia, meetings, and exhibits designed to engender conversation on topics as diverse as the effects of war on home and homeland, to the impact that informed dissent and “resistance” has on official policies towards war in general (and specific wars).
These include the following events:
- November 2013: The Human Face of War, photography exhibit near V’yasma, Russia.
- December 2013: Meetings and seminars in Orenburg, Russia, expanding the discussion past photography and region to a broader overview of the matter.
- June 2014: Second Annual White Rose Conference, to be held in Camarillo, California USA.
- September 2014: Commemoration of the 97th anniversary of Alexander Schmorell’s birth, Orenburg, Russia.
If you would like to participate in any of these events, please contact us.
Additionally, if your university, college, high school, synagogue, church, mosque, or civic organization would like to sponsor an additional colloquium – and have it added to our official agenda – please contact us with your request.
We are especially open to locations in the United States, Canada, Germany, and Russia, although Dr. Khramov and his team, and Denise Heap and her crew would also entertain strong suggestions of locations outside those regions.
